Great Gifts For Fishing

It's that time of year so I thought I'd share some of my favorite products, ones you might consider getting for yourself or somebody else. These are not paid endorsements. I wish they were but they are not.

Penn Squall Reel. Penn finally came out with a smaller baitcaster reel for us bay fishermen and all I can say is that I love it. I use other reels from Shimano and 13Fishing and I like those. But I'm loving my Penn Squall probably because it hasn't given me any problems and the price point is $149. Game changer.

Drift socks. You can't have enough of these with the windy days we have here. Being able to slow your boat down while drifting is critical. 1, 2, or 3 socks depending on the size of your boat and the amount of wind. To my wife who might read this, pay attention.

Simms Waders. Yeah, I know they're expensive. I mean really expensive. But worth it. I've "cheaped out" on waders in the past only to regret it. My wife gave me these as a gift a few years ago and well, I wish I had gotten them sooner. The old saying is right - "You get what you pay for". Use your non Simms waders for guests. :-)

Waterloo Rods - I like the Waterloo line of rods and the fact that they are made in Victoria, TX. Good quality, fair price and local. Can't go wrong. Go Waterloo.

All of these products are available in local stores in Rockport. Stay safe out there.
